I would consider queens and Brooklyn as well, yeah it’s still nyc but it’s not “the city” like Manhattan is. since most of the jobs are now required people to be there and the fact that the best paying jobs are still in NYC, I need to be able to commute to the city without stuck in the traffic for 3 hrs everyday. If you live in between train lines (ie Yorktown/Somers) or in the northeast corner (North Salem, Lewisboro) it gets a little long with the drive to the train station, but even in the furthest stretches of the county your door-to-door will never be more than maybe 1h30-1h45. Weehawken, NJ. Also not really a fan of just a tiny Main Street with only like 5 restaurants and 5 shops. Weehawken - family friendly, excellent commuter options (light rail, ferry, bus) and decent school district.
